MAN MO – Docklands

‘Malaysian/Chinese by the Docks’

Man Mo restaurant allows diners full view of the water front at Docklands, with their floor to ceiling glass windows and also their outdoor dining area. Another Asian restaurant in Docklands, you can never get enough, but this time its Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. With so much competition within the hospitality industry in Docklands, your sure to get some good service, and most importantly of all, great food. From the moment you get to the entrance, there are friendly waiters guiding you to a table, and soon afterwards you are supplied with the menu. Man Mo dishes up some excellent meals, we went with one of their specialties the Man Mo Parcel.

It was a small delicate dish, and for only $10.00 great value for money. The description said it perfectly – ‘Steamed parcel of prawns, chicken and greens wrapped with traditional egg white pastry, served with a reduced clear broth’. It was the perfect light dish to start off with.

For our main course we ordered a few dishes to share, Sweet Basil Chicken $24.00, Cantonese Eye Fillet Beef $26.00 and some steamed rice to compliment the dishes. I always like to go to steamed rice over the fried rice, as you can taste the flavours more of the dishes instead of getting mixed up with the flavour of the fried rice.

You can really taste the strong flavour of the sweet basil leaves in the chicken dish it went really well with the fresh green vegetables it was served with. The sweet basil chicken was served in a hot iron pot so the meal stayed nice and hot for a while. The Eye fillet was also served on a hot sizzling plate, the beef fillets which was glazed with cantonese sauce was so tender, it just melted in your mouth. I could have finished off that plate to myself easily. I’m glad our entree was small, because we just could not stop eating the main meals. And we cleaned them all up too. We were too full for dessert but Man Mo do have all your favourite Chinese desserts like the banana and pineapple fritters, pancakes with fruit and ice cream and the Fried Ice Cream too. Its worth checking out. Prices aren’t too expensive either.
