‘Sampling the Finest Indian’
Situated just off Collins Street in Bank Place you’ll find this little cosy Indian Restaurant. We decided to dine here a while ago for something different in Melbourne. I find with the smaller restaurants they provide you with quicker and better service, and they looked after you here.
We didn’t look at their regular menu deciding to go straight for one of their banquets. There were two to choose from, the Curry Vault banquet for $33.00 per person and the Maharani Banquet for $45.00 per person. We choose the curry vault banquet. If you decide to go for banquets make sure you allow plenty of time to dine at the restaurant as some times they take a few hours to get through.
They first of all put pappadums and chutney on the table. Then came the starters consisting of vegetabe samosas, onion bhajia (onion fritters spiced) and chicken tikka. These were all traditional Indian dishes and unlike chinese banquets they came out at the same time.
For the main dishes we got chicken butter cream (tandoori chicken mild), lamb rogan josh (also a mild dish), mixed vegetable subzi (vegetable curry medium) and a dish which i had never tried before called tarka dal (mild). Tarka Dal was a dish made up of mixed lentils with masala and herbs. Quite tasty but i do prefer the tandoori chicken. These meals were served with plain rice and plain naan bread. I can’t eat Indian curry without naan bread, I love it.
The service at the Curry Vault was very friendly and welcoming, and it was a nice quiet atmosphere, a great restaurant you can really relax in (and also enjoy the company of your good friends too). Open for lunch from Tuesday to Friday and dinner from Monday to Saturday.
