‘Capturing Views of the Yarra River’
Arintji is set in the heart of Melbourne at Federation Square. This restaurant was originally created by the renowned Jacques Reymond in 2003. The theme of this restaurant is ‘Sharing’, meaning they specially cater for entree sized sharing dishes and also allow you to ‘split the bill’. Arintji is also a great place to hold large bookings or functions as they adjust the menu accordingly to suit all booking types and dietry needs.
This Modern European style restaurant has a large outdoor dining area so you can enjoy all the atmosphere of busy Melbourne as you feast on your meal. I went to this restaurant at lunch time, and as there is so much to choose from on the menu I decided to go for their ‘Express Lunch Special’. It’s $35.00 per person and we got to choose 3 different share plates, it also came with a glass of wine (or soft drink if you
prefer). There was such a variety of things to choose from on the list but all up on our table we choose 6 different dishes. they were Stuffed calamari with preserved lemon and currants, the smoked duck breast which was one of my favourites, it came out so colourful and full of flavour. The duck breast was served with sweet potato, pickled cherries and frisee. We also had some lamb balls braised with tomatos, chick peas and spice, soft shell crab with herbs, chilli and lemon, corned beef hash fried egg and HP sauce. and for our final dish we ordered a wild mushroom plate with braised shallots, and I normally love my mushrooms of all kinds, but this dish didn’t quite satisfy my taste buds. All the other dishes were so tasteful but I found this one to be a bit plain for me. I must say though that I would definitely come back again, the service was good, meals came out quickly, I’ll have to try a dinner here one day (though I would imagine dinner would be alot more noisy outside given that it is in the very middle of a busy city). These Express Lunch Meals are only available between 12pm – 3pm. After our meal we washed it down with a beautiful cup of coffee, the barista at Arintji can definitely make a nice cup of coffee.

This looks very swank. Ah, I dream of retiring to Melbourne. If only it weren’t so far away from California, where I am now.
